SUN Cheng


SUN Cheng, Ph.D. is a professor of Environmental Chemistry and deputy director of School of the Environment, Nanjing University. He graduated from the Department of Chemistry, Nanjing University in 1982, and obtained Master degree from China Pharmaceutical University in 1985. He worked at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Nanjing University from 1985 to 1993, and studied as a Ph.D. student at Heriot-Watt University, U.K. from1994 to1997. Since 1998 he has worked at School of the Environment, Nanjing University.


His research interests are mainly as following three aspects:

1. Analyses of trace and micro components in environmental samples.

2. Transformation and transport of chemical substances in environments.

3. Control of pollution and reclamation of contaminated environments.

At present, he is mainly engaged in the research projects as following:

1. Investigation of polychlorinated organic compounds (including PCB, DDTs, HCHs and hexachlorobenzen) in the water, sediment, grain etc.

2. Investigation of impact of toxic chemicals on the environment and human health.

3. Bioremediation of polluted environments.

As a teacher, he offers teaching courses:
